statement on RWANDA ruling

We very much welcome the news that the Supreme Court has rightly ruled against the government's Rwanda plan - a plan which has always been (and will always be) totally unworkable and a violation of fundamental human rights.

While we are relieved by today's unanimous decision, we now ask that the government prioritises and fulfills its promise to offer safe and legal routes for those seeking asylum.

The majority of our young people cannot return to the countries they fled because their lives will be in danger (which is why they fled in the first place).

As it stands - and without any other option - our young people will remain here, undocumented and in limbo. They will not be able to work, contribute positively to society, or move forward. They will be living in fear and could be vulnerable to exploitation.

KRAN is built on compassion and care: we need immigration policies that demonstrate the same.
