“kindness is WHAT kran DOES”

By Osama, Activities and Wellbeing Coordinator (with help from our young people)

Has World Kindness Day (13 November) ever been more needed or appropriate?

However, here at KRAN, a day dedicated to spreading love, compassion and goodwill doesn’t just happen once a year - it is an everyday occurrence.

Here, we share the heartfelt thoughts of the young people we work with. Their words beautifully encapsulate what kindness means to them and the values we hold dear at KRAN.

PEACE AND RESPECT

One young individual expressed that kindness means peace. In a world where many have faced turmoil and displacement, achieving peace is of paramount importance. Kindness is also synonymous with respect, as someone else said. At KRAN, we understand that showing respect to all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances, is a fundamental aspect of kindness.

HELPING EACH OTHER

Kindness, for our young refugees, means helping each other. In a time when mutual support can make all the difference, this sentiment emphasises the importance of being there for one another, as we do at KRAN by providing a supportive community for our beneficiaries.

FRIENDSHIP AND SHARING

Kindness is friendship, a concept dear to many young hearts. At KRAN, we foster an environment where friendships flourish, as we believe that connecting with others who understand their experiences is invaluable. Kindness is also sharing and caring. The act of giving and sharing resources, time, and knowledge is a key element of our work, promoting unity and compassion among our community.

ETHICS AND MANNERS

Some of our participants associated kindness with ethics and manners. At KRAN, we emphasise the importance of ethical conduct and good manners in our interactions, both within the organisation and in the wider community. It's a vital aspect of creating a harmonious and inclusive society.

SUPPORT FROM KRAN

As one young person beautifully put it: "Kindness for me is what KRAN does to support us." At KRAN, our mission is to provide support, guidance, and resources to young refugees as they build their lives in the UK. We are dedicated to empowering them and ensuring they have the tools they need to thrive.

On World Kindness Day, we celebrate the wisdom of our young beneficiaries, who have experienced challenges most of us can only imagine. Their insights remind us that kindness is not just a simple gesture but a way of life that encompasses peace, respect, helping one another, friendship, sharing, ethics, and support.

As we commemorate this day, let us remember that kindness knows no borders. It transcends language, nationality, and ethnicity, and it unites us all as one global family. At KRAN, we remain committed to fostering kindness, understanding, and support for all those we serve, and we invite you to join us in spreading the message of kindness and compassion on World Kindness Day and every day. Together, we can make the world a better place for all.
