Let’s be honest, most young people rely on their phones, tablets and laptops every day (and sometimes every night!). But our young people rely on them for far more than the usual chatting, entertainment or studying; their devices are also vital to them for translation, finding directions and staying connected with their family.
“Having a laptop has been really helpful. I have been using it to access online English courses and watch English conversation videos on YouTube. I am hoping to pass my driving test this year, and I have been using the laptop to do theory test practice.” K, age 21
“Before I received a laptop from KRAN, I was going to Canterbury library once a week to use their computers for English courses. Now I have a laptop, I can practice every day at home.” S, age 18
Not all our young people have access to a phones, tablets or laptops, which is why we are launching our Digital Donations appeal. If you have a preloved, working device, please consider donating it to us to give all young refugees and asylum seekers an equal chance.
