Giving peace a chance
"My inspiration is my own experience."
So says Yusuf, our trainee Youth Ambassador and a member of Save the Children's Young Peacemakers Assembly.
The 17 year old from Afghanistan is eight months into his year-long role with the international charity - a role which sees him and his cohorts empower youth voices, advocate for children's rights and help create a safer world.
Online or in person, the Young Peacemakers come together four times a month to shape a visionary plan which ultimately, will be presented to decision makers.
Yusuf says: "This project is a platform for sharing experiences, stories, thoughts and knowledge. It involves engaging with fellow stakeholders committed to supporting children's rights.
"I've had hard experiences in my life and I don't want other children to go through the same thing. I want them to have access to education, to be safe and to be happy."
As a Young Peacemaker, Yusuf is determined to make a lasting change. He adds: "I'm really hoping for this project to succeed and for us to influence decision-makers to do more about saving the children around the world."
