degree dream come true

On 12 September, Daniel Habte graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University and was formally awarded his degree in a ceremony. He completed his degree in Business Management and this was a very big moment for him, his family and his friends.

Daniel (23) was very proud as he showed me his photos and video. This was such a very important achievement for Daniel, who - having made the terrible journey to the UK from Eritrea - navigated all the hurdles here at the same time as working to support himself and his family. Also at the same time, Daniel was a KRAN Youth Ambassador.

As I was watching the video of the ceremony, I thought of how his mum would feel on seeing it. It made me very emotional and it brought tears to my eyes to think that she could not be there to hug him on his very special day. 

This comes in the hope that all our young people get to achieve what they desire and for a world where families can be together.

Daniel is now working at Ashford College as a Student Progression Mentor. He hopes to one day run his own business.
