young people’s proclamation

By Roya, Media Ambassador

Our young people (YP) face many barriers to progressing in society: barriers that come with being a refugee/asylum seeker.

With the general election fast approaching, there is no better time to present the KRAN manifesto. This outlines five areas we are focusing on; five areas which will improve the lives of our YP and other refugees and asylum seekers:

  • Housing

  • Right to Vote

  • Media Representation

  • Education

  • Safe Routes

We know our YP feel they cannot fully settle in - or contribute to - society due to difficulties they face accessing education and housing, both of which cause instabilities and difficulties in getting jobs when they are older.

Other key issues are representation in the media, no right to vote and no safe routes; subjects which make refugees and asylum seekers feel they are not considered equal.

With our unique insight, we offer solutions to the problems faced by our YP and others. Look out for regular installments of the manifesto in the coming weeks!

And, after 4 July, we will be calling on the next government to take note of our manifesto and to act on it.
