more than just a game

By Osama, Activities and Wellbeing Coordinator

Here at Kent Refugee Action Network (KRAN), we believe in the transformative power of sport. It's more than just a game; it's a vital tool for improving the wellbeing, mental health and physical health of young refugees and asylum seekers. Our staff team is growing and we’re currently looking for an experienced multi-sports coach.

The magic of movement

Sport (especially football) offers a universal language that breaks down barriers and builds bridges. It's not just about scoring goals or winning matches; it’s about the joy of movement, the thrill of teamwork and the shared experiences that last a lifetime. Through sport, our young people find a sense of belonging, a safe space to express themselves and a platform to grow in confidence.

Wellbeing and mental health

The mental health benefits of regular sporting activity are profound. It's an outlet for stress, a way to combat anxiety, and a natural mood booster. For young refugees and asylum seekers - who often face immense challenges - football provides a sense of normalcy and a way to process their experiences in a supportive environment.

Physical health benefits

The physical benefits of sport are equally important. Regular exercise helps maintain a healthy body, boosts energy levels, and promotes overall well-being. By engaging in football and other sports, our young participants stay active and healthy, which is crucial for their development and growth.

Join our team

We're currently seeking an experienced football/multi-sports coach to join our team for football sessions for two hours (and possibly more) each Wednesday in Folkestone. Ideal candidates should have led multi-sports sessions before, or have relevant experience in coaching.

By joining KRAN, you'll play a significant role in the lives of young refugees and asylum seekers. You'll help them not just play a sport, but also build resilience, forge friendships and find joy in their journey.

If you're passionate about making a difference and believe in the power of sport, we'd love to hear from you. Please send your CV to jobs@kran.org.uk.

Any questions, please email osama@kran.org.uk.

Let's create a positive impact together!
