everyone deserves a chance
By our Media Ambassador
It has been a year since I finished university and became a registered nurse. The journey was not easy, but it was made possible through the kindness, empathy and support I received from so many people along the way.
That support shaped me into who I am today and gave me the chance to give back through my work in the NHS.
Right now, the conversation in the UK about refugees - especially those arriving by boat - feels hostile and negative. But every refugee carries hopes, dreams and the wish to contribute. Just because one person may do wrong, it doesn’t mean we should judge or label everyone the same.
I know this because I lived it. I was given support, kindness and opportunity - that changed my life. Everyone deserves that same chance. With a little compassion, refugees can build new lives and give so much back in return.
When we open our hearts, we don’t just change one person’s life, we strengthen our communities and our country too.
